About the author

Neil Davison is senior policy adviser (security & diplomacy) in the Science Policy Centre at the Royal Society, UK.

From 2002 to 2007 he was a researcher at the Bradford Disarmament Research Centre within the Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford. There he was responsible for a research programme examining the development ‘non-lethal’ weapons, and contributed to projects on chemical and biological arms control policy.

Previously he carried out various research, writing, and consulting activities on international security issues. In 2000 he completed training as a biological weapons inspector with the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC).

He holds a PhD in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford and a BSc in Biology from University College London.
